The following letter has been emailed to parents/carers and will be sent home with children today - Monday 16th March 2020.
16th March 2020
Due to the ongoing situation with the outbreak of coronavirus, both worldwide and in the United Kingdom I would like to inform you about the measures that we, in common with every school across the country, are taking as part of our duty of care for our children and staff.
I would like to reassure parents that we are doing everything that we can to keep the children safe in school following advice on a daily basis from the Sandwell Local Authority, Public Health England and the Department for Education. Currently we are doing extra cleaning around the school and disinfecting on a daily basis. We are encouraging lots of hand washing - on arrival at school, in the morning, after playtime and before and after lunch and providing extra soap and hand sanitiser.
The current situation is changing on a daily basis. Parents Evening has been postponed until we receive further advice from the Local Authority but we hope to continue all other school activities as normal until advised otherwise and parents/carers will be informed of these changes as soon as possible.
Should the coronavirus develop to the point at which school closure needs to be considered as an option we will inform parents immediately and the measures that the school has put in place. The safeguarding of our children takes precedence.
In the meantime the children should continue to come to school as normal. If you have any queries do not hesitate to speak to Mrs Emma McGahey (Acting Headteacher). As always your continued support is greatly appreciated.
Mrs E McGahey
